Setting up digital signage takes less time than most people expect. These six steps work for a single screen or the first screen of a larger rollout.
1. Choose the screen and mount it
Pick a screen and decide whether it will be landscape or portrait. Mount it where people naturally look: near the entrance, counter, or waiting area.
2. Choose a player
Connect a computer or mini PC to the screen. DisplayNyx's player app runs on Windows 10 or later, macOS 12 or later, and Linux. Download it from the download page.
3. Create your account
Start a free trial and open your dashboard. Register a screen there and note its pairing code.
4. Pair the screen
Open the player app on the device and enter the pairing code. The screen connects to your account and appears in your dashboard as online.
5. Add content
Upload images and videos, start from a template, or generate an image with AI. Add them to the screen's sequence, set how long each shows, and choose transitions. See the CMS overview.
6. Schedule and check
Set schedules if content should change through the day, then confirm the screen is playing what you expect using the dashboard's preview or by looking at the screen itself.
Troubleshooting
- Screen shows offline: check the device is on, connected to the internet, and the player app is open.
- Content does not update: use the remote reload action on the screen in the dashboard.
- Wrong orientation: set the screen's rotation in the dashboard.
