A growing number of DisplayNyx installs are Android tablets - mounted table-side, sitting on a counter, or wall-mounted at eye level for a self-serve menu. It's the same player app, the same dashboard, and the same live content engine as every other screen in your fleet, just running on smaller, touch-capable hardware.
Same engine, no separate system to manage
A tablet running DisplayNyx isn't a separate product with its own app or its own content library - it's the exact same Android build of the player used on Android boxes and TVs. Whatever's assigned to it - a menu playlist, direct-upload media, a live announcement - resolves and updates through the identical pipeline as your wall-mounted boards. You're not maintaining two systems; you're just pointing the same one at a different piece of hardware.
Where a tablet actually makes sense over a TV

The same instant push, the same schedule rules
Everything covered in our other guides applies unchanged: a price update pushes to a tablet the same instant it pushes to a TV, dayparting evaluates against the store's own time zone exactly the same way, and one uploaded media file can be reused across a tablet and a wall-mounted board with completely independent schedules on each. Nothing about tablet support is a lesser or delayed version of the product - it's the same product on different glass.
Getting one connected
Pairing a tablet works exactly like pairing any other Android screen: install the DisplayNyx player app, then redeem a one-time pairing code generated from the dashboard. There's no separate "tablet mode" to enable and no extra licensing tier - if your plan covers the screen, it covers the tablet.
