This is the question we get most from franchise teams getting set up: "if I upload one promo video, can different stores show it at different times, without me uploading it three times?" Yes - and it's worth understanding exactly how, since it's the combination of two things covered in our other guides: media is workspace-wide, and scheduling lives on the assignment, not the file.
The file lives once, in your Media library
When you upload a video or image, it goes into your workspace's Media library exactly once - it isn't copied per store or per screen. Every playlist and screen assignment that uses it is a reference back to that same file, not a duplicate. Delete it once and it's gone everywhere it was used; replace it once and every screen showing it picks up the new version.
The schedule belongs to the assignment, not the file
A day-and-time window (see our dayparting guide) is set on where the media is used - the playlist entry or screen sequence item - not on the media file itself. That's the key mechanic: the same underlying file can appear in as many different playlists and screens as you like, and each of those placements carries its own, completely independent schedule.
A concrete example
Say you generate one "Weekend Sale" promo video and want it running at three stores with different foot-traffic patterns: your downtown location is busiest in the evening, your mall location peaks midday, and your airport location runs on a completely different customer clock. Upload the file once. Add it to Downtown's playlist scheduled 5pm-11pm. Add the same file to the Mall's playlist scheduled 11am-4pm. Add it again to the Airport's playlist with whatever window suits its traffic. Three schedules, three stores, one file - and if you ever swap the video for an updated cut, you do it once and all three update together.
- One upload, referenced everywhere it's used - never duplicated.
- Each store's placement of that file carries its own independent day/time schedule.
- Replacing or deleting the file updates or removes it everywhere at once.
- Combine with labels (see our media library guide) to push it to a whole tagged group of stores in one move instead of adding it store by store.
